Dance Portfolio

Joanna trained in Connecticut at different studios, majored in theatre, and then trained at Broadway Dance Center’s professional training program where she took class with many prestigious teachers such as Judy Rice, Tracie Stanfield, Sheila Barker, Calen Kurka, Jim Cooney, and many more. She spent three summers interning at Theatre Arts Center NYC where she coached young dancers as they learned Broadway choreographer from dancers who’d performed on Broadway.

She also was costumer for those three summers. She continued to train in CT under Karen Festog while she taught and now keeps up with Ballet at Ballet Palm Beach.

Joanna taught Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Modern at the Lakewood Trumbull YMCA eventually running the program for two years and starting their competition team. During this time she also taught at Christian Academy of Dance, now Ekklesia Dance Academy in Middletown, CT and danced as part of their ballet company.

 

In 2009 she opened Charis Performing Arts Center where she taught Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, Pointe, and Acting.

From 2010-2014 she brought her students to Project Dance NYC which she also served on staff with and danced with their home company Atmosphere.

During those same years Joanna also choreographed productions of Thoroughly Modern Millie, Cinderella, Willy Wonka, and Hello Dolly.

Joanna then moved to the island of Malta where she taught dance and theatre while working in a café and nannying.

In 2019 she moved to Florida and has been teaching an after school dance program at Turtle River Montessori.
